Always fascinated with a sense of place, Michele was drawn into landscape architecture to be a part of the making. Michele’s design, public engagement, and leadership approach are rooted in the joy and possibility of curiosity, collaboration, and creativity. Her design work is based on developing a deep understanding of the community’s needs and values and rigorous analysis of the site’s ecological, historical, and cultural attributes. Her supportive, compelling facilitation and leadership style allows her colleagues and the public to meaningfully contribute to creating innovative, functional spaces that reflect community and connection. Over the past 35 years, Michele has honed her land use planning, engagement, design, facilitation and graphic illustration skills, leading a range of complex projects throughout North America and China. Michele thrives on collaborative work that incorporates a full range of perspectives. “We are on this earth for a relatively short time; it is incumbent on us to do everything in our capacity to leave it in a healthier (on all fronts) shape than when we found it.”
