PWL was retained by the City of Vancouver to design and implement the central community park in Southeast False Creek, known as Hinge Park. The unique design approach combined historical references to the former City Worksyard site with the creation of a naturalized wetland environment that manages rainwater runoff from the surrounding neighbourhoods while providing natural habitat to a wide variety of plant and animal species. Neighbourhood amenities include an innovative children's playground among an array of active an passive spaces characterized by a unique design expression that merges industrial references of the past with restored natural ecology of the present.
