Central Valley Greenway

The Central Valley Greenway is a 22-kilometre pathway system that serves pedestrians and cyclists linking Vancouver, Burnaby, and New Westminster.

Through extensive public consultation we designed a solution that weaves this multi-use trail through a variety of neighbourhoods, parks, and across busy streets. The greenway design used a range of design solutions to suit each location including off-road-dedicated or shared pathways and on-road bike lanes.

We focused on designing a highly legible, safe, and attractive experience that was both enjoyable to use and fit well into each context. Ground plane treatment, signage and line markings, streetscape amenities, lighting, public art features, and planting all played a role. The end result is an easy to access and safer active transportation route.
