leləm̓ Community Heart
The Musqueam Nation’s vision for “home” comes to life at the centre of leləm̓, where community, culture, and landscape converge.
The community heart is shaped as a central gathering space that anchors the broader development, bringing together residential, cultural, and commercial uses within connected shared spaces. This space supports everyday activity as well as celebration—providing a setting for community events, cultural expression, and connection.
Drawing from the surrounding landscape, the design integrates forest, water, and open space to create a rich and layered environment. Public art, developed by Indigenous artists and integrated throughout the landscape, reinforces cultural identity and creates moments of storytelling and visibility across the site. Wetlands and green infrastructure support biodiversity and water management, while pathways and public spaces encourage movement, interaction, and engagement with the land.
As a focal point within leləm̓, the community heart reinforces the importance of place, identity, and togetherness—reflecting Musqueam values and supporting a vibrant, living community rooted in belonging and shared experience.
