Marine Gateway

Marine Gateway is a transit-oriented mixed-use development that brings together housing, retail, and mobility at a key intersection along Vancouver’s Cambie Corridor. Located at a major transit hub, the project supports a more connected and compact urban neighbourhood centered around everyday movement and access.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, PWL led the landscape architecture and public realm design, focusing on how people move through and gather within the site. The design is anchored by a central plaza that connects the SkyTrain station, bus loop, and surrounding commercial spaces, creating a highly active and visible public space.

The plaza supports daily use and informal gathering, accommodating a constant flow of people moving between transit, retail, and surrounding streets. Circulation is carefully organized to manage high pedestrian volumes while maintaining clear and accessible connections across the site.

Material and landscape elements are grounded in local context, with references to the Fraser River, salmon, and cultural narratives connected to the area. Integrated water features and planting contribute to urban ecology, supporting stormwater management and improving environmental performance within a dense urban setting.

The project brings together transit infrastructure and public space, creating a central place shaped by movement, connection, and everyday use.
